Nutella Swirls

I had to celebrate Chocolate Friday with my all-time favorite Nutella dessert.

These weren’t my best-looking batch ever, but don’t judge a book by its cover.  They still tasted fantastic.  As if anything with Nutella in it could be less than fantastic.

Nutella Swirls

  • 1/2 cup butter, softened
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 1 tsp vanilla
  • 1 cup + 3/4 cup flour
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • lots of Nutella

The main ingredients


Start by mixing in a medium-sized bowl the flour, baking powder and salt.

In a large bowl, beat butter and sugar.  Add egg and vanilla.  Stir in flour mixture a little at a time until the dough is firm.

Roll dough in a long rectangle as best as you can.

Spread as much Nutella as you’d like over the dough.  I’ll leave this to your own judgment.

Cover with plastic wrap and leave in the fridge overnight.  If your mouth is in need of them sooner than the next day, leave them in the freezer for atleast 30 minutes.

Once the roll is cold and hard, slice into cookie shapes!  They should be round, but mine were not.  Sorry for bad advertising.

Bake at 350 for 10 minutes.  If you bake them longer than 10, WATCH THEM.  The bottoms can burn fast, and you want them to be hot and doughy when they come out.

Be careful not to eat all of the dough before you bake them.  And make sure to save some Nutella for the cookies themselves.  It makes about 20 cookies, depending on how thick you slice them and how much dough you eat.  Enjoy!

This was the summation of my Chocolate Friday.  Dark chocolate covered espresso beans are my new faves, just not right before bedtime.
